This week was another slow week as life got in the way once again. Spent this week learning about different types of data visualizations and how to create them in Tableau. Useful skill to learn as picking the right chart for the data makes it easier for the reader to understand. More important skill learned this week was how to present those visualizations to an audience and how to engage them. Pretty visualizations mean nothing if the audience isn’t engaged in your presentations. This skill I feel like a lot of data analysts should learn as many will create beautiful infographics but are just numbers and pictures since there is no underlying story. Be able to tell a story with your data is a key skill that sets data analysts apart. Next week I hope to finish “Share Data Through the Art of Visualization” and move on to learning R. Even though I would most likely be using Python for when I need to program, learning R will be useful as many of the skills learned will transfer to Python.
Thanks for reading,
